The Kribensis Cichlid is a tank-raised African Cichlid that originated in Western Africa. It is one of the simplest African Cichlids to produce. They are black with a yellow stripe and a crimson belly and have an elongated form. During breeding season, the belly becomes a more vibrant red hue. It's one of the smallest African Cichlids, and it's also known as a dwarf Cichlid.

The Kribensis Cichlid should be housed in a 50-gallon or bigger aquarium with lots of rocks and caves to give enough hiding places for these territorial fish.

Because of the bright red that the albino female shows during breeding, male Kribensis, whether full coloring or albino, are generally more attracted to the albino female. They are a substrate spawning species, and in order to spawn, they will clean an area inside the substrate. Feed young brine shrimp and finely crushed flake food to the fry. The Kribensis should be fed a diet that is largely vegetable-based, with some meaty things thrown in for good measure.
